Every Event is Tied to a Spiritual Cause

Spiritual causality determines natural causality. There are no coincidences in life or in the flow of events.

The following is an abridged version of an article about “Spiritual Causality and Divine Justice,” written by Dr. Ghazi Brax and published in the first year, third issue of Dahesh Voice:

Spiritual Causality and Divine Justice:

The writings of the founder of Daheshism are inspired—especially, his four-book series “Strange Stories and Wonderful Tales,” that assures the reader that there is a Spiritual cause behind every accident or situation that befalls humanity and other creatures. Diseases, calamities, devastating natural catastrophes, all forms of unhappiness and suffering, all aspects of happiness, prosperity, and peace of mind all have Spiritual causes unknown to humanity. They believe that such events and unforeseen situations are coincidences, good and bad luck, or natural occurrences. Using this logic, the death of an individual in a car accident is attributed to speed, carelessness, or to other normal causes that the human mind can understand and relate to; the winning of a lottery that pulls a person from poverty is attributed to good luck and could have happened to anyone; the death of hundreds of people due to an earthquake or a war is attributed to chance; and likewise in all other situations or events.

However, the inspired teachings of Daheshism assert that coincidences do not exist and a person reaps only what he plants—whether good deeds or bad. “Divine Justice is like no other form of justice, because the retribution and punishment are administered through an action related to the same deed that the person had committed,” says Dahesh, the Returning Christ. Daheshism clarifies that the soul of a human being is a collection of Spiritual Fluids (Sayyals)—powers that are aware and exhibit desires and free will—that react with the natural environment of the individual as well as with his other Spiritual Fluids that exist beyond his actual human form and could even be in a different world. Such interaction causes the person to punish himself without knowing and in accordance to a precise Divine system. Every human being has degraded Spiritual Fluids that suffer in one of the Worlds of Hell and are connected to this individual through continuous cosmic, invisible rays, because they are part of this individual and they seek to attract him to their world in order to exact punishment for him because he was the cause of their fall. They do that by whispering through his mind and painting a beautiful picture of evil acts. He could have been the cause of their fall in the existing life or in a previous life. However, many human beings have elevated Spiritual Fluids living in the Worlds of Paradise that helps and inspire them to do good, to be righteous, and to refrain from evil deeds.

The founder of Daheshism Says: “The degree of our elevation or degradation is directly related to our resistance and strife, or to our subjugation and giving in to the whispering of our degraded Spiritual Fluids. If we act upon their wishes and committed improprieties, we will undoubtedly degrade ourselves to their lowly world. However, if we did not act upon their wishes, we elevate ourselves to higher worlds. This is Divine Justice, where each one of us is being punished or rewarded according to our deeds. In other words, we are the ones who punish or reward ourselves by degrading ourselves to a lowly world or elevating ourselves to a lofty world. ‘God is not cruel towards his creation, but rather, they are cruel towards themselves.’” (Sura 30:9)

In order to explain further the Spiritual Causality, Dr. Brax gives several examples from “Strange Stories and Wonderful Tales,” dividing them under three categories:

Under the heading “Greed and Spiritual Justice,” he summarizes four stories that depict how greed and stinginess punish the character inflicted with such traits: In the first story, a couple kidnap a child for ransom from the child’s greedy parents. Fearing prosecution by the authorities, they keep the child. When the child becomes 24 years of age, he reads in the paper about the kidnapping and he becomes convinced that he is the kidnapped child due to the reported pieces of evidence—including a tattoo of a bird on his wrist. So, he confronts his alleged mother about his kidnapping and blames her for hiding the truth from him—especially, after the death of his alleged father in an auto accident a year ago, which should have been viewed as warning sign for her. His alleged mother first breaks down in crying and then dies suddenly. The young man learns that his real father owns a hotel, so he checks in into that hotel at nighttime with the intention of confronting his father, mother, and sister in the second day with his real identity. However, the greed of his father drove him to slaughter him in order to steal his expensive jewelry and his suitcase that he envisioned to be full of money. As he takes off the young man’s golden watch from his wrist, he sees the tattoo and realizes that he had killed his own son. The shock drove him to insanity, so he stabbed his wife and daughter with the same knife he killed his son with and then he turned it on himself.

Likewise, in the other stories, we find that bad individual human traits are the cause of one’s punishment in accordance with a precise Spiritual system. Anyone that makes money his main purpose in life will be punished by his own greed. Anyone that makes the guarding of money as his main purpose in life will be punished by his own stinginess in such a way that he will lose his money—even if he was poor to start with. In this manner, the Spiritual Fluid (Sayyal) of that individual is what causes his own punishment in accordance with a Divine system that doesn’t err.

Under the heading “Divine Justice and Improper Sexual Relations,” there are five stories that depict the severe consequences of sexual assault, infidelity, and other forms of forbidden relations that take place on a daily basis. The perpetrator will be punished by having others commit similar acts against his own family; the rapist that commits murder, will be killed in turn; the unfaithful wife who is “snake-like” in behavior, may be punished through a real snake attack that may lead to her death.

Finally, under the heading “Cruelty and Spiritual Justice,” there are a number of stories that depict how any act of cruelty will be turned back on the individual, group, or people committing the act. Behind natural causes, there are Spiritual causes hidden from the eyes of humanity that lead to group disasters and catastrophes that would not have taken place had the “victims” did not deserve to be punished. It is possible for a cruel person not to punish himself during his lifetime, but rather punish his son, grandson, or any descendent of his that has Spiritual links to him.
