On the first day of 1982 (two years and a hundred days prior to his return to his heavenly world, Dahesh, the Beloved and Guiding Prophet, wrote in the 18th volume of his “Travels Around the World” a piece that illustrates the sinister condition of humanity. The following is a summary:
In these days, most people consider religion to be a farce that is based on a fable. They consider Spiritual values to be misleading and virtue to be ridiculous and for this reason, evil reigned in a world full of widespread permissiveness, persistent and rampant terrorism, greed, and the many acts of evil. For these reasons, love and mercy became harder to find, with the strong oppressing the weak, and where killing is the common law. As a result, our lives have become unsettled and devoid from any meaning and purpose, because our false materialistic civilization provided us with bodily pleasures and the desire for flesh and blood, yet failed to fill our thirsty souls with a Spiritual truth that calms the spirit. Life has become, for many individuals, a living hell.
Dahesh realized that the solution to many of the ailments of this era and its evils is not in the setting of a particular form of government, such as democratic or socialist, but rather the return to the practice of spiritual virtues and human values, such as compassion, love, mercy, and the feeling with other human beings. Misery seems to be widespreadeven in countries that have labeled itself democratic, socialist, or some other label.
Dahesh also viewed the return to the pure essence of religion is not by following dogma or rituals, but rather in embracing Spiritual values and applying them. It is the only way to attain salvation that could save humanity and lead our souls to peace. Otherwise, disasters and horrible dangers await humanity.
The Returning Christ confirms that the deviation of humanity from the essence of its religions will undoubtedly lead to its destruction. He is basing this on his inspired knowledge that the Creator had specific intentions in creating the world and that human beings merited their existence on earth with death and all kinds of suffering as their punishment. He states that religions have come to them as mercy and a mechanism so that they can purify themselves and regain their place in the Worlds of Paradise, otherwise, suffering in the Worlds of Hell awaits them.
